Congress formed in the cold winter of 1993, when all underground
musical activity in Belgium was low.
Four totally different characters with various musical backgrounds
combined forces to form a worldwide force to be reckoned with.
‘Euridium’, their first 7”, hit the scene like a bomb.
But once the debut album ‘Blackened Persistance’ was released in
1995, things got even bigger.
Tours and festivals followed, the scene (H8000) boomed.
I’m sure some of your favorite bands picked up their instruments after
seeing Congress live for the first time.
During the 90s, the band continued to drop legendary albums (The
other cheek in 1996 and Angry with the sun in 1998) which insured
their top position of the European metal/HC scene.
Alas, by the beginning of the new millennium, the OG line up fell
apart and in 2006, the band quit.
The legacy of Congress lingers on to this day and after a few reunion
attempts in 2012, the band is now ready to embark on a clubtour to
commemorate the glory days of the 90s.
At last the silence is broken, Anger and distortion forever!
