Admiral Freebeeb

For more than two decades, Admiral Freebee has been considered one of the most artistically free-spirited and fearless rockers in Belgium. Since his victory at Humo's Rock Rally 2000 (audience award and podium place), 'the admiral' has swum through many artistic ponds and has known highlights and challenges, as can be seen in the Belpop episode that TV channel Canvas devoted to him last year. What also emerges is that one common thread throughout his career: his passionate devotion when it comes to rock and roll.

Last year, as part of AB's Rewind series, Admiral Freebee replayed in full his untitled 2003 debut album. A unique feat for an artist known for wanting to look forward above all else. But also more than deserved, because with absolute belpop classics like 'Rags 'n' Run', 'Ever Present', 'Einstein Brain' and 'Mediterranean Sea', it's a record that hasn't lost an ounce of urgency and has effortlessly stood the test of time. The concert took the audience and artist back to the wild beginnings. It tasted like more, which is why Admiral Freebee decided to tour a very select whorl of venues under the banner 'Back to the ever present', including Cactus Club, of course.

If it's to be a nostalgia trip, let it be one where love, rawness, fire and freedom play the main character. Back to the ever present, where Admiral Freebee revisits its old devils.
