Britain's Picture Parlour are surfing a healthy wave of hype. With their debut single 'Norwegian Wood' and their first live shows last year, the band immediately caused enough word-of-mouth publicity to perform as support for Bruce Springsteen, Noel Gallagher, The Strokes and The Last Dinner Party. With the latter, they share a love of a big rock sound and a solid live performance in addition to a meteoric rise.
Picture Parlour was founded by Katherine Parlour and Ela Risi, who started writing songs together during the pandemic. After relocating to London, the band was joined by bassist Sian Lynch and drummer Michael Nash. With their sound, built on ripping riffs that suggest stadium rock ambitions, greasy bass lines, romantic neo-noir and a hefty dose of swagger, they immediately received support from CLASH, BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 1, The Guardian, Rolling Stone and NME.
Picture Parlour's performance at showcase festival Eurosonic - where Europe's most promising bands are invited every year - was named by Dutch 3voor12 as the second best of this edition (just after English Teacher, still on our stage in February). Taking a gamble? Things could go very fast for these British rockers, come and check them out on a small stage at Cactus Café while you still can. Breaking Waves!
'SONGS & SWAGGER & SONGS & ALL the mojo. There's no more mojo to go around. It's all gone. They ate the mojo." - Courtney Love
Only Two released songs, but Picture Parlour is already being hoisted on the shield as one of the hottest indie rock bands from England. Rightly so, it turns out at Eurosonic. The London foursome have an incredibly sickening collection of tunes that they play retestingly tight, as if they were seasoned festival veterans. - 3VOOR12
