Chanel Beads is the musical project of New York-based musician Shane Lavers. Together with his companions, singer-songwriter Maya McGory and classically trained experimental violinist Zachary Paul, Lavers' Chanel Beads explores the fragmented feel of contemporary existence, working with lo-fi digital collage work, conjuring loops and elements of pop music and culture. The result is abstract shoegaze-y dreampop that moves in the musical universe of experimentalists like Dean Blunt and Bar Italia.

Chanel Beads' first full-album 'Your Days Will Come', released in April on Jagjaguar (Bon Iver, Moses Sumney, Angel Olson...) sounds uneasy and dreamy at the same time. It is the result of Lauer's love of the unfinished, the sound of low-quality ripped MP3s and transitional moments in DJ sets and human imperfection. By superimposing digital and real instruments, he creates an 'uncanny' atmosphere, like a memory where you don't remember what really happened and what is a reproduction of your memory - only the burning emotion at the centre remains intact.

With the scrappy sound of postpunk, the sentimentality of pop songs and the broad palette of electronic music, Chanel Beads thus builds transcendental climaxes and unconventionally constructed songs. At its core, 'Your Days Will Come' was made with the stage in mind. 'If it didn't move me while performing, then I couldn't make it into a song... I had to make something that made me feel someting' says Lavers.

Live, Chanel Beads plays in trio, with the sounds of Lavers, McGory and Paul intertwining into an absolute catharsis. After a sold-out release show in New York, Chanel Beads joined Mount Kimbie on tour. Rolling Stone named their show at SXSW as one of the best of the weekend and Pitchfork, Loud & Quiet, Stereogum and PASTE also tipped the band as 'one to watch'. Breaking Waves!
