His buddy and Border Community bandmate James Holden turned his ‘The Sky Was Pink’ into a massive crossover hit, but there’s more to British producer Nathan Fake than just that. His releases on Ninja Tune and his own label Cambria Instruments very from atmospheric techhouse to shoegaze-influenced downtempo, always treading the fine line between club and experiment.

On his last record ‘Providence’, Fake pushed his techno into the sound of noise- and ambient-producers like Tim Hecker and Ben Frost. It’s an intense trip, which sees Fake exchanging the cinematic and rather pastoral atmosphere of his earlier albums with a far darker sound. New album ‘Blizzard’ will be released in 2020 and will continue his urgent and at times ear-pummeling “Live AV” show.

The slow burning and dreamy ecstatic house created by Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers elegantly transcends the tense borders between a sweaty dancefloor and a concentrated listening session. Weval forces popmelodies into a narrative techno structure, blends experimental triphobeats with catchy hooks and is proof of the patience needed to make electronic music instead of dance records.

Their much-praised debut album, released by Cologne powerhouse Kompakt, saw its crossover-potential compared with Burial’s ‘Untrue’ and Justice’s ‘Cross’, while its finesse drew comparisons with Radiohead and Boards of Canada. Follow-up ‘The Weight’ (2019) saw Weval bring a live band to sold-out shows all across Europe. On their visit to Bruges, they’ll be performing as Weval II a special electronic duo show, which they’ll be performing at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London as well.
