The swinging Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio specializes in the lost art of ‘feel good music’. Their ingredients: the 60s jazzy hammond b3 organ sounds of Jimmy Smith and Baby Face Willete, a pinch of snappy soul grooves by Booker T & The M.G.’s and The Meters, sprinkled with motown, Stax Records, blues and Jimmy Hendrix-style guitars. It’s a soul-jazz mix that reaches the body, the mind, and the heart.
Leading the band is organist Delvon Lamarr, a self-taught virtuoso who not only learned to play jazz by himself, but along the way picked up the ability to play a plethora of instruments.
Guitarist Jimmy James makes vulcanic acid-rock licks look like child’s play, while drummer Julian McDonough is the beating heart of the band, keeping the groove with his steady beats.
Since appearing on the scene in 2015, the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio has been touring the world, and has also released two Billboard charting albums. Their KEXP-session has been viewed over 12 million times!
